Sadlers Smokehouse
Announces New Investment in “Meals” Production
Capability. Building on the strength of its Sadlers
brand in pit smoked beef brisket, pork and turkey
breast, Sadlers announced today that the company will
be entering the the refrigerated meals segment in
early Q2 2009. For the first time ever, Sadlers will
offer a chef-inspired starch to go with its famous
protein and sauce combinations. New “green friendly”
equipment is being installed and first production
should occur in the net several weeks.
The fresh, refrigerated
products have been in development for over 18 months.
Current plans call for a line of Sadlers branded “Dinner
for Two” entrees in an easy to peel two cavity,
microwaveable tray. The line will include Sadlers
premium pit smoked brisket and pork loin, but will
target the value retail pricing range of $5.88-$6.99.
Initial items are projected to include a Premium Brisket
in sauce with Potatoes Au Gratin, a Premium Brisket
in sauce with Rosemary Mashed Potatoes and a Center
Cut Pork Loin in a Cranberry Orange glaze with Wild
Rice.
According to Senior
Vice President of Sales, Paul Reich, initial retailer
interest is very strong. “Retailers are looking
for fully cooked dinners at the value end of the spectrum,
but they do not want to compromise on quality or of
course food safety. These new Sadlers dinners deliver
restaurant quality in the consumer’s home for
about 33% of the cost. We are optimistic.”
The new product launch
will be supported by a targeted marketing campaign
to educate non core markets of the 60 year history
of Sadlers quality. The product is targeted to begin
shipping in the middle of April or earlier.
